NCEES (pronounced N·C·E·E·S) provides to all of its Member Boards five examinations:
Each examination is six (6) hours in duration except the Principles and Practice of Engineering which is an eight (8) hour exam and the Structural Engineering which is a sixteen (16) hour exam.
The second part of the Principles and Practice of Surveying examination is the New Mexico surveying examination which is a two (2) hour examination and covers the distinctive features of New Mexico law and practice. The New Mexico exam is prepared under the supervision of the New Mexico Board of Licensure.
The Fundamentals examinations are a computer-based exam that is administered year-round in testing windows at NCEES-approved Pearson VUE test centers.
The Principles and Practice Examinations are administered concurrently by all state Boards in April and October of each year. Professional Engineer applicants have a choice of several disciplines in which to be examined. Each fall and spring examinations are given in:

A passing grade entitles an applicant to registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Surveyor, or certification as an Engineer Intern or Surveyor Intern as provided for in the Engineering and Surveying Practice Act and the Board's established procedures.
The New Mexico Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors is no longer accepting applications for the FE and FS exams.
Passing the FE or FS Exams does not automatically approve you for Intern Certification. You must meet all requirements, outlined in the NM Engineering and Surveying Practice Act and NM Administrative Code, to obtain Intern Certification.

Registration for the FE and FS exams is accessible 7 days per week, 24 hours per day, through a valid MyNCEES account only. Visit ncees.org to login or create an account. Examinees will receive an email notification once they have successfully completed the registration process and have been authorized to schedule an exam.
Upon receiving authorization to schedule an appointment, examinees should login to their MyNCEES account, select the “SCHEDULE” option and follow the on-screen instructions.
