Principles of Practice of Engineering (PE) and Principles of Practice of Surveying (PS) Exams

  • Achieved a passing score on the PE and PS Exams
    • Congratulations on having passed the PE or PS exam, you will receive a letter within 10 to 15 business days subsequent to the scoring of the exams.
    • The letter you receive will explain the next step for licensure.
    • Please note, during the months of October, November, and December the letters may be delayed due to licensure renewals.
  • PE and PS Exam Re-takers
    • Per the New Mexico Administrative Code:
      • 16.39.3.10 C. and 16.39.5.9 C.

“An examinee that has made three unsuccessful attempts at achieving a passing score on an examination, shall only be eligible to take the next scheduled examination after providing documentation to the board of further study in preparation of the exam.”

Supporting documentation must be submitted by the advertised application deadlines.  The submitted documentation should include the following:

  • Study Schedule
  • List of review material
  • Proof of attendance or registration to review course
  • Etc….
  • 16.39.3.9 I.  [Engineers]

“Applications for licensure or certification by examination or comity/endorsement which have been approved by the professional engineering committee shall remain valid for two years from the date of approval.”

  • 16.39.5.8 I.   [Surveyors]

“Applications for licensure or certification by examination, comity or endorsement which have been approved by the professional surveying committee shall remain valid for two years from the date of approval.”

For Engineers and Surveyors – Once your application has exceeded the two (2) year validation date you are required to submit a new application with new references
